Burna Boy, DJ Tunez, and Wizkid: The Brawl That Broke the Afrobeats Internet — Full Story

Obi’s House is Lagos’s worst-kept secret — a weekly gathering held at a private venue where every A-list name in the Nigerian entertainment industry eventually shows up. On the night of April 7, DJ Tunez — Wizkid’s official disc jockey — was at the decks when a confrontation erupted between his camp and that of Burna Boy. According to multiple witness accounts and viral footage, the disagreement began over the music selection. The situation turned physical. DJ Tunez ended up on the floor. Burna Boy was later seen in a Snapchat video dancing in a towel — widely interpreted as a mocking reference to the incident.

Both sides speak

DJ Tunez posted on X: ‘This n***a Burna Boy, all signs of weakness. First off, you hit me in the back of my head without me looking. 1 vs 10, and I stood my ground.’ Burna Boy, on Instagram Live: ‘Na only me touch am. Two slaps na him I give am.’ Then Wizkid: ‘I never saw a fool like this.’

The industry response

The Nigerian DJ Association announced a temporary boycott of Burna Boy’s music from playlists nationwide. The fallout has reignited long-standing conversation about the competitive tensions between Nigeria’s ‘Big Three’ — Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. Ironically, both Wizkid and Burna Boy are confirmed headliners for Afro Nation Portugal in July.
