JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Results: 1.9 Million Candidates Can Now Check Scores

The Announcement

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released UTME results for candidates who sat the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Thursday and Saturday of the examination week. A total of 1,264,940 results from those two days were made available on Sunday, April 20, 2026. Combined with 632,752 results released earlier for Thursday candidates, the total number of results now available for checking stands at 1,897,692.

How to Check Your Result

Candidates can access their results through the official JAMB portal at jamb.gov.ng by entering their registration number. Results can also be checked via the JAMB results-checking SMS platform. JAMB has urged candidates to use only official channels and to beware of fraudsters who are exploiting the results season to extort unsuspecting students and parents.

What the Scores Mean

A score of 200 and above is generally required for consideration by most federal universities. State universities and polytechnics typically set lower thresholds. JAMB emphasises that individual institutions set their own cutoff marks in addition to the national benchmark. Candidates who scored below 160 should consider applying to polytechnics, colleges of education, or rewriting in the next cycle.

Controversies and Complaints

As with previous years, social media has been flooded with complaints about technical glitches during the examination, questions about alleged server failures, and concerns about candidates sitting the exam multiple times. JAMB has urged those with grievances to contact the board directly through its official complaints portal rather than spreading unverified claims online.

Next Steps for Candidates

Candidates who scored 200 and above should begin preparing for the JAMB CAPS admission process, which will open after supplementary examinations are concluded. Post-UTME examinations by individual universities are also expected to commence in May. Begin gathering relevant documents, O-Level results, and identification materials well ahead of these deadlines.
