Rock Hall of Fame 2026: Oasis, Wu-Tang Clan, Phil Collins Inducted — Mariah Carey Snubbed for the Third Time

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced its Class of 2026: Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Oasis, and Wu-Tang Clan will all be honoured at the induction ceremony later this year. Each of these selections is defensible, each represents a significant body of work.

The inductees

Phil Collins: Drummer, vocalist, and solo artist whose work with Genesis produced some of the most commercially successful music of the 1980s. Billy Idol: whose solo career gave the world ‘White Wedding,’ ‘Rebel Yell,’ and ‘Eyes Without a Face.’ Oasis: whose albums ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ remain two of the best-selling British rock albums of all time. Wu-Tang Clan: the Staten Island hip-hop collective whose influence on the genre, the culture, and the business of music cannot be overstated.

The Mariah question

Mariah Carey has now been passed over for Rock Hall induction three consecutive years. Her catalogue includes 19 Billboard Hot 100 number ones. She has sold an estimated 220 million records worldwide. Music critics and industry insiders no longer simply question the decision — they question whether the Hall’s selection committee has defined its criteria in a way that structurally disadvantages certain genres and certain artists.
